A romantic comedy featuring Derek Ramsay and Jennylyn Mercado and a biopic that accounts the life of Andres Bonifacio were the winner sat the 40th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) awards ceremony held last Saturday.

"Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo" took home alot of awards including the Best Picture award. it also took along with it awards such as: Best Musical Scorer, Best Cinematographer, Best Sound Engineer and Best Theme song.
It was additionally regarded with three special awards, to be specific Youth's Choice, Best Float, and the Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.
Then, Dan Villegas, the Director of "English Only, Please," was named Best Director. Both the film's lead stars, Ramsay and Mercado, sacked the top acting respects.
the said film also took home awards such as 2nd Best Picture, Best Original Story, Best Screenplay and Best Editor.
"Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2" was named third Best Picture. It additionally won six different grants, which included Best Supporting parts for Lotlot de Leon and Joey Marquez.
"My Big Bossing" a film that features Vic Sotto together with child stars Ryzza Mae Dizon and Alonzo mulach was said to be one of the top grossing films of the year's MMFF, they only managed to get the Best Child Performer award for Ryzza Mae Dizon.
The ER Ejercito-starrer "Magnum Muslim .357" and different entries such as "Feng Shui," "Shake, Rattle & Roll 14," and "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin" likewise failed to take home a single award.
